Founded in 2006 by lead singer Michael Goude and his wife Jessica, Set Free has grown into a passionate band of worshipers that have ministered to thousands through their music and lifestyles. The band established itself at Michael and Jessica’s home church, New Life Worship Center in Gladewater, Texas, but has since ministered at key events such as Winterfest, Cornerstone and Shoutfest. Additionally, numerous summer camps and “Discipleship Now” gatherings have played host to Set Free in an effort to impact the lives of teenagers for the purpose of Christ.
When asked about the band’s objective, lead singer Michael Goude said, “You can definitely tell what we are about and what we represent. Set Free delivers a powerful and captivating message that is backed by harmonious melodies and powerful percussion. ” Likewise, vocalist and keyboardist Jessica Goude explained, “Our words are easy to understand; there are no hidden motives or extended storylines that leave you wondering what our songs are about. When Set Free is getting ready in a green room, watch out! You have know idea what out pouring that is about to be birthed.” Even lead guitarist Dennis says, “When the presence of God comes in… we start swinging our swords and dropping elbows on the enemy’s camp!”

The vision of Set Free is to see lives changed and people touched by God in many types of atmospheres. The band desires to release a sound that will shine light in the darkness and usher in the presence of the Holy Ghost that will break chains and tear down strong holds! The ultimate goal is to help people feel “set free” and clean of the bondage that has weighed them down for so long. Beyond just pretty worship songs or mimicking the newest worship cd, Set Free’s worship is more of an experience than anything. It’s completely indigenous, free, spontaneous, and it bears the authority of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Set Free’s heart and prayer is to not only show love, but show true love. The word love has been diluted by the world's lack of expression to one another. The one word to best describe Christians in this day and time is “set apart”. Set Free’s unquenchable fire for God has lead them to peruse the transforming of cities and churches to see the Glory of God's face. They choose Life and their choice is to cry out!
